Banaba Extract
Banaba is the common name of Lagerstroemia speciosa.
Corosolic acid, ellagitannins and gallotannins are the main active constituents of banaba.​

Exerts Hypoglycemic Activity
Banaba showed hypoglycemic activity through suppression of gluconeogenesis and stimulation of glucose oxidation via the pentose phosphate pathway.​

Induces Glucose Uptake
Banaba induces glucose uptake in cells, but, unlike insulin, does not simultaneously up-regulate lipogenesis.​

Mechanism of Actions
- Enhances cellular uptake of glucose and reduces insulin resistance​
- Decreases the production of glucose in the liver (gluconeogenesis)​
- Inhibits α-glucosidase and impairs hydrolysis of sucrose and starches​
